18th Annual Golf Outing - Suwanee, GA
The Eighteenth Annual Golf Tournament of the Finnish American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeast was held on September 18th, 2009 at Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwanee, Georgia. We picked the only dry day in a week of torrential rains to play. The course was susceptible for low scoring and some of our teams took full advantage. The main event was playing for the FACC Cup sponsored by Nokia Siemens Networks. The format was a two man best ball with full handicaps. After play we gathered for a late lunch and victory ceremonies. Jukka Kohtala of FinOptics and Jukka Perälä of Emerson Process walked away with the trophy having posted a net score of 51. Jukka Tiitinen and Tony Auffant, representing Metso Paper Inc., finished second with a net score of 55. Chuck Miele of R.W. Baird & Co and former FACC President Arto Elo came in third with a net score of 58. Marcus Filipek of Nokia Siemens Networks had the longest drive and closest to the pins were won by Chris Torkelson of Nokia Siemens Networks, Chuck Miele, Arto Elo, Markus Filipek and Benny Arvberger of Andritz Inc. Thanks to Harri Ihanainen for adding to the fun by having ScanBev provide each player with a couple of Finnish Line adult beverages.
